Agate is a solid-state device that can receive a broadcast digital TV channel and then stream that TV channel onto your corporate LAN.

Users can watch any of the TV channels on the LAN using a small set top box and a TV or monitor, or they can watch the TV channels using their desktop computers.

Each Agate can receive and stream eight TV or radio stations at a time and if your network supports industry standard multicast protocols, any number of users can view each channel.

A simple to use electronic programme guide can be accessed with any compatible web browsers to change channels. The set top boxes supplied with Agate come with a TV style remote control that can operate the programme guide. Optionally, the set top boxes can be used with an infrared keyboard that can provide full Internet access.

The current version of Agate receives terrestrial ‘FreeView’ transmissions of 35 TV channels and 15 radio channels. There is a satellite version under development. If access is required to encrypted streams then the streams must be viewed with a set top box and the correct conditional access module.

Agate does not process or re-encode any of the incoming channels so the video streams that are put onto your network are exactly the same as the streams broadcast by the TV station.
Agate is supplied in a rack mountable chassis 3 rack units high. It requires a suitable TV aerial input, mains power and a 100BaseTx connection to your Ethernet network.

RECLAIM (REMOTE EQUIPMENT FOR COMBINING LOCALLY ACQUIRED IMAGES AND METADATA) is a laptop based unit that has been designed to allow personel to quickly organise, describe and classify images that have been captured with a digital camera. Selected pictures can be categorised using a variety of predefined drop down fields and free-text entry. The description data and images can then easily be burned to CD for distribution. The CD contains a browsable set of images and data which can be viewed from any PC as well as an editable report document. Standard database file formats are also available on the output CD including Cambridge Imaging Systems' own Imagen database import file.

INPUT
Simply insert the flash card from your digital camera into the RECLAIM unit, or connect your camera with a USB cable. All images will be automatically loaded into memory and shown on screen. At a glance the user is able to discard or select images for review. The input session can be stopped and restarted as often as needed.

RECLAIM expects the user to add description information to each image. Standard fields include date, location and description. Zoom in for a closer inspection of the image and add annotations to mark out areas of special interest. Predefined categories can be selected with drop down menus. Defaults can be set and text descriptions copied to
make data entry more efficient.

OUTPUT
Once a session is complete the image files and descriptions are recorded to CD. The original images are copied from the camera or flash card unchanged.The data saved to disk includes an HTML version which can be viewed with any web browser. JPEG versions of the images are copied to an RTF document with their descriptions for use with standard word processing software. The CD also contains an XML version of the data, and a CSV version which can be imported into many database and spreadsheet applications. There is also an import file for easy integration with Cambridge Imaging’s archive management system.

BoB is an off-air recording system designed to be accessed by large numbers of users on a network. Simple to use, BoB allows any authorised user to schedule a recording of a programme appearing on the freeview spectrum or on free to air satellite services. BoB displays digital tv and radio broadcast information for the next seven days on a web browser based programme guide. The guide also offers search facilities and will search for programmes by name, key word or phrase.

All the recorded items are stored in a database of programmes and can be accessed by anyone on the BoB network. This means that not only can the user search for programmes due to be broadcast in the next seven days, it is also possible to search the archive for relevant programmes previously recorded. Users can search each others playlists and tag programmes to make it easier for others to find them.

If an important broadcast is missed, BoB buffers the user's favourite channels in a rolling archive (up to seven days), so the programme is not lost. BoB even has extra modules which allow the user to add old programmes recorded on video tape to the archive, or their own digital assets.

The Canvas system is designed to deliver audio, video, image and HTML content to multiple points from one or several Windows 2000/XP servers. The display points are low-cost set top boxes (STBs) that incorporate a web browser and video display technology. The STBs are used as dumb video terminals and are connected to videoscreens or projectors.

As well as a complete system, Canvas is also available as an OEM toolkit that allows a custom system to be designed around the set top boxes.

THE CANVAS SYSTEM
The Canvas decoder is a small form factor, plug and play MPEG-2 transport stream decoder. The decoder is based on an IP-TV set top box using Canvas remote control firmware. All the user needs to do is to configure the network settings for the box (or use the default DHCP settings) and then tell the box which video stream to decode. The Canvas decoder will connect to the configured MPEG-2 transport stream and will decode that stream until it is told to stop. Configuration is carried out via a simple web interface or by operatingthe set top box with an infra-red keyboard. The Canvas decoders can also be operated remotely using a simple UDP command interface or a supplied Windows 2000/XP application.

CANVAS API
For custom development the Canvas remote control modules and API can all be licensed. The remote control module provides a mini web-server for the STB, remote control commands for TV reception (depending on STB model), video and audio playback, image display, and RS232 control (requires a
modified STB). Tools are provided for remote key-press entry and a Windows based remote control and configuration application is also provided.
